 Brief History of Lebanon
Lebanon is a Semitic word pronounced in Hebrew as “Lebnoun”, in Assyrian as “Lebnano” and in Greek and Roman as “Libanos”.
   
     
 History of Ehden
Ehden and Zgharta are two prominent Lebanese cities located in North Lebanon. The same people who own houses and properties in both cities inhabit them both. Ehden is populated mainly during summer, while Zgharta is the residence during winter.
Ehden is an older mountainous town with 1450-metre elevation from sea level. It is the original town of Ehdenians.

Ehden is considered to be the city of churches and convents, for in it is the oldest Maronite church in Lebanon. Its blessed land has produced many who contributed greatly to Lebanon and the Maronites, such as patriarchs, bishops, priests, monks, nuns, intellectuals and patriots.

The City of Zgharta The origin of the name: There are various explanations available concerning mostly the meaning of the name of Zgharta and of such meanings (fencing, barrier, barricade, and fortress).
The populist belief indicates that Zgharta is a common pronunciation for “saghartaha” (you have made it smaller).
